I was not aware until now that a military recruiter can request certain information from the age of 17 and older.

I learned the importance of students receiving information on FERPA, from this section. I also learned that even if a student signed not to have information disclosed certain circumstances, such as legal issues, information will be shared.

I learned what can and can not be released with and without prior authorization from students. I also learned who has authority to see information, under certain circumstances.

I learned the importance of FERPA and that education records has to be reviewed within 45 days of request, and a student has aright to file a complaint to the US Department of Education.

I learned a lot a from this section to include interim measures, remedial measures, sanctions, and information about dating violence, stalking, sexual assault, rape and consent. I thought it was very interesting to learn that students are at a higher risk for sexual assault for the first two years of school.

This was very informative, I learned that the termination of a criminal investigation without an arrest or a conviction does not affect the institution’s Title IX obligation.

As a Title IX Coordinator it I very important to be visible to students and employees and to reassure them that information being shared will be kept confidential.

This section explained how language is the form and literacy is the use or the uses of that form. Language is a way of communicating ideas of feelings by sounds, gestures, etc. Literacy refers to the ability to use the language .

This section stated that race is a social construct, which is not a fair description of anyone. Culture refers to how we all behave , what we do, what we like and where we spend our time, to include religion, gender, learning differences and challenges. Both race and culture are important.

I have learned the importance of being inclusive because the population of learners is very diverse. It is a good idea to be observant with group activities to make sure that no one is being left out or feel isolated. Pay attention to what students are saying and observe what their body language is saying as well.
