This method would be useful and I believe would create more interaction that is needed in today's society. We are used to using technology so often that some forget how to have a face to face conversation and I think this would help in that aspect. 

I am not sure if I like the idea of using blogs and wikis for students.  I do enjoy discusssion boards though. 

Synchronous can be difficult for some because of having to set aside a certain time of the day to be online in the class setting.  Asynchronous allows for the students to get on when it is convenient for them.
