Mind mapping is a great tool for critical thinking. It helps identify areas where you have improved understanding on the subject and critical thinking. 

I find the center stage students often excel as mentors to the less talkative students. Center stage students often flourish as peer tutors. 

I think it's important to set clear boundaries and expectations from day one.  Students have to be willing to put in the time and effort if they are to succeed. Pushing our students to be studious and efficient, will help them be successful in the workplace.
