I’ve learned that mutual communication, joint problem solving, and learner reflection are essential for creating a collaborative and effective learning environment. I plan to apply these concepts by fostering respectful discussions, guiding students through structured problem-solving activities, and using reflection prompts or peer interviews to enhance their evaluation of the learning process. These skills will directly apply in the respiratory therapy field, especially during multidisciplinary rounds with intensive care doctors, where clear communication and collaborative problem-solving are critical.

I’ve learned that the flipped classroom requires careful planning, flexibility, and tackling misconceptions to make it effective. I like how pre-class assessments can highlight areas where students need more focus, allowing me to spend less time on concepts they’ve already mastered. This would help me use in-class time more efficiently for targeted discussions and activities.

From this module, I’ve learned the importance of planning with clear outcomes in mind through UBD and using IBL to engage students. I’ll apply this by setting specific goals, like understanding COPD, and creating activities like case studies to help students explore and apply their knowledge.

From this module, I’ve learned that preparation is key to a successful flipped classroom. Instructors need proper training to understand the theory, plan effectively, and address potential challenges.

To make it work, it’s essential to carefully balance what happens online and in the classroom by considering the course objectives. I want to apply this by focusing on how to best use class time for problem-solving, collaboration, and addressing misconceptions, while using online components for foundational learning like the short lecture videos they are able to view at home.

I want to apply what I’ve learned by using Bloom’s Taxonomy as a guide. Students will see it by watching lessons at home, teach it by discussing and explaining concepts with their peers, and do it by practicing and applying the material during class activities. This approach helps students progress from basic understanding to applying and analyzing what they’ve learned. By focusing on these steps, I hope to create a more engaging and effective learning environment that promotes critical thinking and problem-solving.

The flipped classroom model has a lot of benefits for student learning. In traditional face-to-face classes, students listen to a lecture in class and then do homework at home, often without the help they might need. The flipped model flips this around, students watch the lecture at home on their own time, then work on assignments in class where instructors are there to help them with questions or challenges. This setup allows students to get the support they need when they need it most.

Following this course, I will incorporate some active learning strategies in my class to get more student engagement out of my adult students.  I will also utilize dropping the lowest quiz score.

This course has taught me to continously alter and change my presentation styles.  This will keep my students attention and provide an effective learning environment.

I will try hard to remember all the names.
