There are different types of testing strategies such as content based testing,  cloze testing, close test, and multiple choice tests. 

The idea of having students complete a portfolio.  And learning overall how important it is to have student engagment. 

It is important to use multiple methods to engage the variety of ways of learning for students. 

That learning is not just linear but circular in nature.  And the importance of increasing learner autonomy by different methodologies such as encouraging independent research, online searches, and so on.

Active learning is important for the student in a student based learning approach.  This is a difference than old prior ways which it was instructor lecturing at the podium, but it is now in more recent years a promotion of active learning.

I like the analogy or idea of Jig Saw Puzzle and putting all the components together in online learning.  I think this also aids in critical thinking.

It is application of the active learning environment such as providing rubrics to set standards for grading that assist student and instructor.

There are some limitations to online learning and advantages.  It is important to note that with online learning students must have self-determination.

Online format needs to organized and engaging. Instructors can use personal experience and let their personality show to engage the students.
