Instructors need to know the status of their institution(s), whether a non-profit or a for-profit teaching organization. The laws are different but the importance of complying with copyright laws is the same. Following the best practices in this course (and from their institution's copyright policy guidance) will help an instructor navigate the challenges of complying with the law.

Instructors have a responsibility to help their students become reponsible digital citizens who appreciate the importance of following copyright laws. There are plentiful resources available to instructors to help them develop a copyright plan.

While the legal guidelines covering copyrights are slow to keep up with changes and technologies, instructors must be cognizant of the potential copyright violations when introducing materials in their classroom. There are many sources of information to help with this and that can support developing and updating an institution's copyright policies.

Always important for instructors to examine potential copyrighted elements in content that they plan to incorporate into their course(s).

Holistic assessments are better for learning than some traditional techniques that might rely only on memorization of material. Teachers can improve the learning environment by employing techniques that aim at holistic assessments with technologies that support this. Innovation, design and application shaped by desired learning outcomes should drive assessment development.

It is important to engage the students and using a project-based approach for design and portfolio for assessments may do so better than traditional instructional approaches, but these do require planning.

Recognizing how maximizing content input is a driving consideration for today's students allows instructors to tap into the ever present information environment we live in and that their students are comfortable with. To achieve that goal, instructors must understand the relevance of information and how to work it into the teaching plan by creating customized learning spaces unique to each student.

Students today have grown up with online technology and social environments that drive the need for more dynamic lessons versus the more traditional linear approach. Web and the Internet are now integral to the teaching process and instructors must recognize this as they plan how to engage their students. Inteactive technologies offer many ways to incorporate activities for teacher-to-student, student-to-content, student-to-student interactions. This lesson has given me ideas to use in review and analysis of existing online courses to try different ways to improve the dynamic content.

Input from multiple stakeholders is essential to evaluating and revising the course.

Be specific with feedback and tailor it to each individual student.
