Everyday I remind the students why they are here and constantly talked about graduate success stories. I also have graduates visit the classroom and talk about their careers.
What are some of the techniques that you instructors are using to maintain class control without breaking the students spirit.

How is everyone using the text book the students received. What I have done is use the text book following our power point presentation. For example horsepower is presented in the power point. In the the text book the different types of horsepower are explained more indepth.

On the first day of class I have printed tent cards with their names on them and underneath their name it says Automotive Technician. The tent cards look professional with our company logo on them. This does two things, one I remember their names very quickly, and also reinforces the fact of why they came here, and what they are to become. I also have a tent card that says Automotive Technician. This says Big Me and Big You. If I have any problems pronoucing their names we take a minute and phonicly spell their names.
