Licensing is required for an institution in Florida, but Accreditation is voluntary. The main difference between the two is Fair Consumer Practices.
I need to look at the catalog more to understand the states principles guiding my institution. I don't need to know everything, but I need to know a lot about a lot.
Nothing is done until the paperwork is finished. I should be an expert, relatively speaking, on all aspects of the school, including financial aid, various majors, and what is involved with an admissions decision.
I learned that you have to know details about not only the college I work for, but also details about the rules as they pertain to Florida. I have to keep my knowledge current about my college and the rules I have to follow.
If a student is Active Duty in the Military and they want to use Tuitions Assistance (TA), they must have a Degree Plan created for them so the military can see what classes they will need to take in order to graduate and what classes will transfer into the host school so some of the graduation requirements are met.
I learned that I have to take this Training every year and that it is required for the state of Florida. It is good to know I was doing things the way they suggested as I started a Training notebook when I first started, since the school I currently work for is so different (large state school) that I have worked my previous 28 years.
