That is completely true. A continuing education course will also energize the mind. However to avoid burning out quickly it pays to take it step by step as it comes. In every lesson as a facilitator, throwing questions back to class for their contributions will make them more active and save the instructor a few calories. A good number of students will take up the challenge and answer. Others will research if asked to do so and bring answers later, they will happily do so. It delays burning out.

This part of the learning process is sometimes slippery to grasp. Many times I have assumed that anybody in a career college should be responsible, serious and mature. When I don't notice these qualities I start wondering what is wrong?. However I have learned from this lesson that a little more concern and involvement in my individual and all students' lives is crucial for developing a positive learning environment. This environment forms the basis for being able to identify issues that would subbotage learning and address them early enough. Retention is a product of this intricate process.

Yaa. Sometimes it only requires a reminder that they have alot at stake compared to younger students who still have a whole life full of opportunities before them. It is one way of helping them remember their responsibilities and they stick to it.

This student will always try to answer every question even if the instructor clearly indicated who was to answer it. Sometimes this persists in spite of instructors intervention. Many times the student has to be told to wait for her turn. Alternatively the approach would be "this question is for so and so" before the question is actually given out. The know it all student plays it cool when hard questions are directed to them.
