A good way to keep students engaged in the online setting is to keep the discussion board active and current. 

Get to know your students, even if you are an online instructor. 

As an online instructor, I learned there are several ways to interact with students. Make sure they understand the information given. 

Know the content you are teaching? Practice demonstrations before hand. 

Great each student as they enter the classroom. Try to learn their names. 

Your syllabus is a great guide. 

I am a model, manager, and motivator in the classroom. Do not assume you are the smartest person in the room.
