I learned that CMS is very important to be familiar with in our field. Not all non-traditional students learnt the same way so we have to constantly be evaluating and evolving.
Planning and staying on track with organization will ensure that you and your students are on the same page and understand the assignments mutually. Time management is a very important aspect to classroom management being effective.
Being organized and finishing things in a timely matter are crucial to classroom management. Understanding that you have to track your priorities to manage time effieciently.
This course prepared us to make specialized teaching plans for students with PTSD and TBI.
I learned that PTSD is a mental disorder and students who have this need to register through the Student Services department to alert instructors and get awarded accomodations. All students with a learning disability should be encouraged to report it so teachers can work with them.
This module taught me the differences in PTSD and TBI. I learned that most TBIs are due to falls and are more common in the elderly and kids ages 0-4 usually due to domestic violence. PTSD has many negative outcomes one of them being the increased risk of suicide. Bot PTSD and TBI can be overcome but need instructors to know how to handle stressful situations involving them.
Being very prepared for class sets the tone for the students. They can observe the behavior that is expected of them instead of just hearing it. It is natural to make mistakes but being prepared builds confidence.
This course taught me that as a cosmetology instructor I need to set clear expectations and be consistent to maintain proper control of the classroom. Building relationships is key to getting to know them and their learning styles.
From this course I learned that you must be consistent to manage a classroom effectively. Seeing learning from many different learning styles makes you a more well versed educator. I learned the techniques to deal with students who may have a harder time focusing by being engaging moving around the classroom and using "mini" lectures.
From this course I learned that being organized and prepared builds confidence in you as a teacher from your students and sets everyone up for success. Having a clear teaching outline will ensure that you are both meeting goals and staying on track. Different students learn in different ways so changing up your teaching style is also important.
