Active listening is very important. There are several stages to working with students, don't just use a "one style meets all" approach
Encouragement and working with students is key. Things can spiral out of control quickly, and it's best to be observant and help students work with stressors.
Retention really is a campus effort. It's best to understand the student, the orientation, the expectations, and goals. Being proactive can help

I recommend the course.
