I have learned about different learning styles and how to use them in communication to avoid misunderstandings.   

I learned the importance of Board recognition. 

I learned different methods to engage board members and the quality of traits board members must possess. 

When forming an advisory or governing board.  It is important to assess the demographics of the student population and the stakeholders in the community they will serve.  The members should be nonbias and highly diversified.  In addition, there should be an odd number of individuals to avoid a deadlock when making decisions. 

I have learned the differences between an Advisory Board and a Governing Board.  In addition, I learned the different roles for each type of Board.  I also learned the importance of an advisory board and how it can assist in improving educational institutions.
