I think that sometimes dealing with a difficult situation with a student can be handled when the teacher understands where the student is coming from. Past experiences with a teacher may have the student putting up barriers that a new teacher may need to break down. But a teacher must control the situation which can be difficult. 

I think it is always a challenge to deal with so many different personalities. but understanding the personailites will help with the dynamics of the class 

I had a fellow instructor tell me once don't let the students walk all over you because they will if you let them. I think the more specific you can get with the syllabus and directions on assignments the less they will be able to get away with trying to get points for a late assignments. I liked the many ways we can inform students of how to complete assignments so they will be successful.

The importance of Title IX is importanct for the safety of all students and employees. Today we are seeing changes in the defination of gender and orientation. All people need protected regardless of their personal lifestyles, 

Motivating helps students to get excited about their choice in study. Motivations help the students to be successful. 

By including personal stories into the discussions it makes the content real. Life experiences are building blocks that can be used in education, 

Learning the difference between active and passive learners will help instructors reach students on their levels. Getting to know student's names help to build a rapport.  

Understanding the uniquiness of the students will help with a better connection. I always learn from my students. 

Understanding the need to adjiust teaching styles to meet all the needs of the students

Gettimg to know students and letting the students get to know you helps to ease the fears and build relationships. WIth any relationships it  takes time to build a rapport but introductions helps to set the stage for the relationshio
