I learned there are multiple resources to help during need within a crisis within my community like 211. 

Self-Directed learning is key for students. It allows the students to critical think and come up with outcomes. 

It is crucial to advise students so they know where they stand academic wise so they can come up with a plan to help themselves. 

It is important we put everything aside when a student is talking to us so we can listen attentively but allow the student to finish talking before we respond. 

We as instructors need to treat our students as customers by listening attentively to our students and educating. 

I learned it can very complex as adult students. As instructors, we need to understand the barriers for those adult students as well.
