About me

Activity

I teach online and face to face classes.  We have probably all had the wallflower students that sit quietly in the room and do not participate. I have the same type of students in the online classes.  Does anyone have any suggestions on how to engage these wallflower students and pull them into the course room?

Thank you

Michele

I can see how guiding students is an important part of an online instructors role. We need to have the skills to guide and direct our students. Is anyone aware of any web sources that help you to become a better facilitator? Thank you Michele
I am currently teaching an online course. The students have established deadlines through out the week to complete discussion posts, assignments and tests. I hold a Live Lab each week. I struggle with some of the students not participating in the Live Lab discussions. It is as if, these would be the "quiet" students if we were meeting live. Does anyone have an tips to engaging all students? Thank you Michele

I am interested in using Blogs for my course room. Does anyone have any "lessons learned" or tips to share? If you use Blogs in your course room, what feedback to you have from your students? Thank you Michele

Great Video.  It gave me a lot to think about and incorporate into my life and work balance.

Thank you

Hello For those of you that have implemented any of these tools in your course room, do you have any student feedback that you are willing to share? For example, I'm curious which tool seems to work the best. I realize it would vary based on need. However, I am wondering if a tool stands out as a top favorite with the students. Thank you Michele

Are there any tools and/or websites that allow you to create and take polls besides Twitter? I vaguely recall hearing about Instructors asking polling questions to their students and the students responding by text. I'm curious to see if this is similar to Twitter? Thank you Michele

I'm curious about using Blogs in the course room. I understand a Blog is an online journal. Is a Blog something that multiple people can access and share information? Or, is a Blog something that only one person updates? Thank you Michele
Hi I have a question regarding using Facebook as an online tool. I'll admit, I am not that familiar with Facebook. Is there any concern that the instructor may have access to the students personal information i.e. personal Facebook account? Thank you Michele
In nearly every class, I have at least one student that says the internet kicked them out of a test. Ethically, I have an issue resetting their test. I have no way of knowing if they say the questions which would give them an advantage. How do you handle this situation? Thank you Michele
