I remmber having a manger who took the entire day worrying about how well decorate the office was as appose to the bigger things that needed attention. what she use to do is delegate all the work and she span time cleaning rearranging when we had hous keeping who came in to clean and rearrange. I feel they are many managers who focus to much on little things instead of whats really important.

Prioritizing

Yes prioritizing is eveyrthing and its key strategy to time management. I remmber when I first strated my job i didnt knoe How was able to manage the largest program and keep track of all students and my direct reports. All it took was prioritizing and some delegation.

Instructors

Instructors definatly need good people skills especialy for those of us who are dealing with student form different geographical areas. Many of these student are coming from rough neiborhoods and they were never taught people skilss as instructor put of are wole is to educate,and motivate if our people skills is bad the students will most likely do the same.

Do you think education can teach people skills? I think people skills comes fromt he way we were brough it includes morals and values. for example if we grew up watching our mother constantly fighting with people we will most likely do the same.

I agree one thing I notice with younger students they dont like to put the effort into studying they want open book quiz which I am totaly against. How do you all feel about open book quizzes?

Retaining Students

Retaining students can be a challenge especially for new instructors. New instructors are sometime intimidated by students and thatâ€™s something that may happen with everyone. As I stated before being their friend is not the key respect is.

Teaching adult college student has been a great experience. I've notice that the older student takes their work more seriously apposed to the younger student with least experience doesnâ€™t.

As instructors it is very important to try to retain our students. Online and in classroom

I can agree with you on that. I don't teach online but as a current student at University of Phoenix sometime I wish I can see my instructor. As a instructor I enjoy seeing my students every day they really make my day. Having interactions with them face to face is way better than online.
