I think the top takeaway for this unit was the ability to better understand the psychological reactions of a victim and not to assume they are lying or not cooperating when they are still processing their trauma.

What this unit made clear is that a Title IX violations can be multi-layered a complex. A clear and thoughtful review of the context(s), accusations, and implications of a violation is imperative before the investigation can move forward.

I think there is a considerable amount of misunderstanding of the reach of Title IX. The old adage, 'not my problem', or 'I'm not getting involved' no longer applies once a member of the institution witnesses a Title IX violation.
It is important that all campus stakeholders understand their role in creating a safe and health campus climate and to report wrongdoing when it occurs.

Having observed several faculty being dismissed over Title IX violations over the years, I think it is important to educate faculty of the nuances of what constitutes a violation, because many faculty are simply unaware and accept violations as part of an institution's status quo.
