Training is invaluable. In my field, most of our new hires are from the industry with very little or no instructional training. We must be mindful of this when they are hired. Those who have known for a long time that they wanted to go into teaching as a career have an advantage over others who have not really prepared for teaching. However, we must support (with training) those with expertise in the industry who fit the qualifications to teach. They have not had the luxury of preparation.
