Using multiple tools to evaluate a course gives us valuable feedback, and allows us to improve more than one area moving forward

 

Self-assessment and peer review can be part of both formative and summative assessment. They can provide valuable feedback to participants.

 

A good online syllabus is dynamic and interactive. It allows participants to click on resources directly, such as email or websites.

 

"Chunking" can be a valuable way to present content so that students can successfully reflect on their learning before moving on to new material.

 

Personalities come through in online learning, just as they do in the classroom. It is important to develop strategies for keeping all participants on task and moving towards completion.

 

Asynchronous learning is the heart of online learning. It is best to use synchronous learning for very small groups or just one-to-one, and let participants know what they need to bring to the session to prepare.

 

I learned the importance of projecting an online presence from a distance, communicating credentials and experience, and continuous support through periodic communication

 

A strong online course is one that engages the learner with a high level of intellectual involvement, rather than passive learning
