In this module, I understand that establishing and building relationships is very important as it is your calling card.  You must keep in contact with your current and previous employers as they can become a continuous request for job placement.  Create brand advocates. Listen to your employers.   Listen to their needs and to see where you fit in and how you can become most beneficial to them. 

 

I learned that matching candidates for a job order should be very detailed, and you should be very thorough in assessing their experience.   You should review the job order and details to make sure the referral(s) you send match the job order.  Also, you must always remember to match other attributes as well, professionalism, enthusiasm, and the candidates' expectations.

In contacting employers, it is recommended that you invest time, build a relationship with the employer so that you have the opportunity to talk with them and share information and discover their needs, preferences, interests and specifics in choosing to work with you.  Do your best to create a custom approach to each employer.

  • In this module, it gives me the tools of the trade, how to prospect, make cold calls and making contact, how to deal with objection and the common objections you may have to overcome and how many cold calls are needed.    Also, messaging, when and how to leave a message and what message should be left on a voicemail and how important it is to document your employer contacts and job orders.

In this module, I have learned that in order to become efficient as a Job Developer you must learn your craft and serve your job seekers as well as the needs of your employers.  You must create a system for data collection, as well as partner with academics, education, and career services as their input and expertise will help you tremendously.
