Fairy tale format and Know White analogies made the information regarding learning styles come alive. It is apparent that a lot of thought went into this training. I really enjoyed it. I plan to apply some of what I learned in upcoming classes. The loner provided a glimpse as to why some students don't respond when called or why that can be challenging for them. This was one of my favorite lessons.

This lesson provided a great deal of information that is useful for any student population. It was useful to note that IEP is no longer valid after as student graduates for high school. Colleges are however required to provide accommodations. These accommodations can prove useful for those students who have learning disabilities but desire to attend college.

What I have learned is for an adult learner to be successful it is important to teach the whole of the student not the pieces. Each aspect of an adult learner is different, so it is important to support each aspect to fully help develop the learner. Additionally incorporating various learning styles could enhance motivation of the adult learner.

Knowles listed five basic assumptions to describe adult learners: have aided in developing how adult's learner conceptualize content in their learning environment, the relevancy, and application of content. Adult learners don't just want to obtain content, they often ask "why" which can lead to an instructor researching information and providing thorough explanations to lifelong learners. Additionally, Rogers mention of self-directed learning identifies the role andragogy plays in the student directed learning for adult learners.

The varying viewpoints of each theorist are interesting. Havighurst perspective is relevant and relatable today as adults often compare themselves to others when it comes to education and success.

The motivation for adult learners is different than that of non-adult learners so the strategies to empower their learning and retention has to be strategic.

Managers are an important part of every organization; however, communication is the most important part of leadership.

I have learned that support, engagement, and instructor interaction is crucial to student success. Online learning is challenging especially if there is a fear of technology. Students will need as much support as possible to be successful and it starts with their instructors.
