Curriculum delivery and testing should be accomodated to meet the needs of these students.

I have learned about the varying mental health disorders in the educational community and how educators can help the student by individualizing their success to meet their needs in the classroom. These are often diagnosed later as they are difficult to catch.

Students with ADHD have many different "ticks" that can be difficult to pay attention for extensive periods of time. It is often helpful for these students to have hands on activities, breaks, and be paired with someone who can help fill in the missed details.

I have learned about several different physical disabilities and how to accomodate them.

Individualized Education Programs are for students who need additional accomodations and are protected by law. The schools will help the student and parent develop this plan, which instructors must abide by legally.

Students with disabilities are often misunderstood, unproperly medicated, and simply have an issue expressing themselves and processing information. These students are often very intelligent.

I have learned how to remain professional and not predict outcomes. I understand that I may make mistakes which I can grow from.

I find that consistency is key. If you set expectations at the beginning of the year, stick to those expectations, and treat everyone fairly, the management issue is easy. I do like the thought of rewards. You should always take the time to listen and understand student concerns.

I find that it is best to understand the students that you serve before jumping to conclusions as to why they are being inattentive or noncompliant. Sometimes, if you can understand the student's issues, you can best adapt to help their success. I would tread lightly with this concept, because you do not want to be so lenient that you lose the concept of accountability.

I always work on teambuilding strategies at the beginning of the course. I learned to utilize more colorful illustrations of the most important content in the syllabus. I will apply this in my course.
