Time management is an important thing for an online teacher to be able to accomplish.
Although the class is online, as a teacher I need to remember how important feedback is. I need to be giving positive feedback to keep the kids motivated.
I wrote this down from the module because it says it all. "One of the ultimate goals should be to facilitate learning while building community." Just because they are online students doesn't mean they are not your classroom.
In order for students to be successful in an online course they will need open mindedness, self-motivaton, self-discipline, time management, computer competency, critical thinking and teamwork.
I learned that you will have to set the guidelines that the students use to managage the communication process. Communication is essential.
In this module I have learned that even though the students are online we will still need to find an effective way to communicate with them.
There are 4 O's to follow: Origin, organization, orchestration, and outcomes.
You will need to be active in your online classroom and reply to student posts asap to keep them engaged. Guidelines for posting need to be clearly defined in the syllabus.
Synchronous learning requires everyone to be on the online classroom at the same time. Asynchronous is the ultimate anytime online learning experience.
For this section I think I learned how important it is to chose the right tool to teach with and what type of teacher would use which tool.
