Leaders must understand what they bring to the table and how to adapt.

As demands and circumstances change, it is important for leaders to adapt, too. This is critical to effectiveness!

Both leadership and management are important. I personally feel that my leadership skills are sometimes dependent upon the task or vision at hand.

There are significant differences between leadership and management. Both are vital roles, but can be very different.

Effective managers must have influence and this is not a direct result of the organizational structure or "power" of a title/status.

Coaching can be useful in help employees to continually grow and stretch, while building confidence and competencies.

It is so important to remember that encouraging teams as a whole, in addition to individual employees is critical. Leaders must be able and willing to assess and reassess the team culture frequently and then respond accordingly in leadership.

The importance of listening and learning can't be underestimated. Building strong and trusting relationships in the workplace is key to effective leadership.

We focus on equal access and the opportunity to participate fully at post-secondary institutions. Accommodations can be seen as a means, but not an actual end. This does not mean accommodations enhance success for students (even though we should hope they are successful).

Students can and do face a variety of disabilities, but are able to be successful with a level "playing field." With case-by-case consideration, students can be provided with proper accommodations and equal access to opportunities.
