Soft skills are very important.

Scaffolding is important in the on-line learning environment and the instructor must be aware that each student may have different levels of prior knowledge.  

I learned the importance of developing a learning-objects database.

I learned the importance of recording keeping and the different types of records that need to be kept.

I learned the difference between asynchronous and synchronous discussions.

I learned the importance of getting to know you students and ways to do so from a distance.

I learned how important it is to understand all the areas of the CMS and the many factors that teachers must be aware of and stay on top of to be an effective on-line instructor.
