When you are in a leadership role, you have a responsibility to your employees. You should be able to be open and honest with them and have their best interests in mind. Know when to say "no", and keep them AND yourself accountable.

When being a good leader, you need to know when to say "no", you need to be able to keep your emotions in check, and you need to be able to be there for your employees, while also keeping that professional boundary.

When problem solving, you should avoid: Overgeneralizing, personal attacks, analogies, superstitious behavior, and oversimplifying. The one I think is the most important is to avoid personal attacks. When you use personal attacks to try to persuade someone to your side, I feel like it does the opposite of what you are trying to accomplish.

You should allow employees time to problem solve, and to come up with innovative ideas to help improve the problem areas they see. Each employee may have a different approach, so do not expect the same from each employee.

Visual aids are to supplement what you are trying to convey. The audience needs to be able to quickly understand it.

Non verbal ques can be a great help in conveying the importance of a topic.

If you are preparing to give a presentation, make sure you remember that audiences do not have a huge attention span- past ten minutes they start to tune out. Stick with what is crucial for them to know, do not bog everything down with fact after fact.

I read that you need to make sure your method of delivery fits the situation. There is not a "one size fits all" for each situation, you need to find what method of communication works best for that specific situation.

I learned that stress is a prevalent occurrence in the workplace, and you need to find different ways to help relieve your stress before it leads to burnout.

I agree with the phrase "Actions speak louder than words". If you are consistently showing up, and going above and beyond at work, your employees and coworkers will follow suit. It is important that we as workers hold ourselves to a higher standard and continue to better ourselves, as it will help improve our work.

I plan to make sure I set better goals for myself, and work hard to achieve those specific goals.
