Multimedia uses within learning can be a double-edged sword.  The use of multimedia that is not overly relevant as "filler" can reduce engagement.  While students do not wish to be in an environment construed as a "wall of text," improper usage of multimedia learning content can confuse or distract the students from the defined learning objectives.

Proper alignment of discussion and lecture is important for student learning.  Additionally, assessments should be designed in a manner to demonstrate either comprehension of competency, based on the learning objectives.

Effective learning requires the motivation of learners, while some course modules would require synchronous training depending on conceptual goals, some can guide the students to expand on their learning through asynchronous learning. Depending on the subject matter and course objectives, a hybridized approach is more effective.  Determination of a framework for a particular course that is both engaging and interactive can enhance student success.

Proper organization with engaging content enhances the student learning experience, however, there are cases that design needs to be less generalized and more catered to the intended audience.
