About me

Activity

I love that someone said it is important for instructor and student to remember their "why". This will keep both motivated.

It is appropriate to keep focus on students but not to be too personal with students and not cross unprofessional lines of professionalism.

Being empathetic and sympathetic to students needs and what is going on in their outside life from school. Letting them know how much you understand but also emphasizing that they must be at school. Give them resources that may help in their time of need to help retain them.

Having continual discussions and follow-ups with those students that don't come to class faithfully is important to retain retention.

Make sure you stay in teacher/instructor mode is important so students do not think they are your friend and that lines can be crossed. It is important to stay professional and not to cross professional lines.

Let angry or confused students to talk and explain themselves without interruption. This usually will solve problems.

I encounter many of younger students who has not developed the maturity of some of my other students and are not as attentive or engaged. I have to literally say their name and ask questions to these students to draw them back into the conversation. In some cases I have pulled students into another room and have spoken to them one on one to see what I can do as an instructor to capture more of their attention and this has been successful.

I love icebreakers as well i feel this takes away alot of the first day/week jitters students may have. I envolve students in many of the conversations and activities done online and in lab so everyone gets an experience.

This was very helpful learning about students who may feel alienated while e-learning.

I love the idea of asyncronous. I love the suggestions given
