I've learned on this module how important is feedback from students, grads, alumni and employers are for enhancing our services and skills that we provide. Keeping track of employers, graduates and placements is a key role for CS.
I've learned the importance of workshops that help students get skills set for job searching. Preparing for that first interview takes planning. It is important to remind graduates to consider an appropriate wardrobe, how to actually get the interview, and to practice interview skills. And Networking one of the effective way to find out about job openings
This module showed importance of CS department and that there are many services they offer. Key for success relationship with students and grads is personal attention. As CS advisor we want to help our grads to get the job in their field. and if you don't pay attention to each individual then you won't be able to help them get the job they are looking for.
at this module I learned that Career Service department impact the entire institution. Students, Graduates, alumni's, employers and Admission department, all of them benefit from work of CS. The Career Services Department and/or library need to have many publications to assist students with developing job search skills and confidence. When setting up or revamping your Career Services Department, it is important to start with a mission statement. The mission statement will help everyone in your institution understand the purpose and goals of the department.
Good communication drives student engagement in online courses. A respectful tone, clear expectations, and personalized interactions help instructors build connections and improve learning.
I learned at this module that effective communication between instructors and students is crucial. Understanding students' expectations and adapting to their generation helps create a more personalized and engaging learning experience. Applying these strategies will improve your online courses.
This module has taught me how useful different digital communication tools can be for improving the learning experience. I now understand when to use tools like texting for one-on-one communication and teleconferencing for group discussions. The idea of getting feedback every three to five weeks has also shown me the value of continuous improvement.
I've learned that we need investigate before deciding on what communication tool to use in a course. See what works best for the students/ CS worker/ employer. Digital communication with students ensures accessibility and convenience, allowing for flexible interaction
I want to highlight the part from module " It is important to be thoughtful with language and use words with positive or neutral connotations to convey a supportive, nonjudgmental attitude, especially in the absence of nonverbal cues. " This is a top priority for CS advisors since our job is to build trust and communicate with students to help them achieve their goals.
from this practice I've learned of importance of active listening and empathy when working with students or employer. Make sure to communicate and help to set clear expectations however do not set goals for them but guide them. Success takes time and effort. Help students stay motivated, believe in themselves, and take small steps toward their goals. Listen, guide, and encourage them to make their own decisions.
