About me

Activity

I enjoyed the course. It helped to organize and explain all the informaton I've heard or read about the Gen y. It is apparent in the classroom and in the workplace that the next generation is requiring change in the way bussness is conducted. I teach in the healhcare field, and need to reach my students. It's helpful to have some tools to be successful.

I agree motivation is the driving force to success. I would like to know how to motivae the students to be motivated to be better critical thinkers. Maybe just giving them more opportunities to be successful as they analyze the problems.

@ellythomas : I resently had a similar porblem with my class, I took a chance and  called on  the person by name, then ask a closed questions based on the informtion I had just covered. The students silence was noted by the class. She appologized for her side conversation, and we moved on. It seemed to work as the entire class was engaged during the remaining time.

I do encounter sexism in my classes. More often it is women with preconceived, demeaning ideals about men. I am not a supporter of discrimination os any type, but am not well versed in how to intervene or even support a nonsexist viewpoint.

I am interested to see if I cma complete a detailed lesson plan as prescribed in the ED 109 course. I especally like that the lesson plan cn be used to document my organizational work. IF I cn do it it, the lesson plan would be a useful tool for a subsitute teacher.

I appriciate the suggestions made in the course ED 107, I have more fun teaching people I feel connected to and many of the suggestions have helped me to see past the scary sea of strangers into the faces of future collegues. As I relax in the classroom i find what I'm teaching becomes more dynamic and interesting.
