Instructors must show leadership at all times. Displaying respect and caring, competent attitude will avoid classroom conflict. Also being consistent and not a buddy to students will provide positive outcomes for the class.
Disputive students must be confronted for the sake of the other students. Set boundaries and always listen, encouraging a written compliant to difuse situation.
As an instructor, I may have to address inattentive students. It is the instructor's role to engage the student and find out what motivates and causing the disengagement. Always address the student alone, do not shame or embarass.
Provide team builders for motivation and to get to know each other. Set boundaries from the beginning with grading and late assignments. Always make notes about what is worked well in the class and failures with lesson plans for future classes.
Delivery of material has many factors of influence. Incorporating all delivery methods will help engage the students. Providing 15 minute mini lectures will ensure students are learning.
Remember the name of students and ensure they are comfortable in the class. They also need to know the goals and the isntructor will help them achieve the goals.
Be prepared and organized for class arrive early. Also, have a thorough and complete syllabus.
Always show professionalism to the students. The instructor is the role model and sets the tone and relationship with students.
