If a student is learning English wishes to use a valid resource in their mother tongue, they should be allowed to.

Race is used synonymously with ethnicity but is also used to describe skin color. As an instructor I am to not pretend that this doesn't exist, instead, not treat students differently with regard to race or any other characteristic.

I should not make assumptions about a students' interests based off of immutable traits such as gender. Example, I will not assume that a male nursing student would not be interesting in going into labor and delivery.

For memory acquisition to be retained and applied, the student must repeat the procedure or content at least 45 times and/or for 30 consecutive days. This allows the student to transfer their new knowledge to other settings.

To reinvigorate a class play "The Crisis Game."

With daily reinforcement and recognition there will be at least a 40% higher level of student achievement. Give daiy reminders of progress and make a big deal about small successes.

Link the material to student's experiences.

Throughout a class I need to always keep in mind that learning occurs in 3 ways: learning new content, questioning assumptions (student will either change mind or not) and learning something about yourself.

I liked that the module listed out what we want our students to have at the end of their first class: 1) A sense of where they're going and how they'll get there; 2) A feeling that the other members of the class are not strangers; 3) An awareness that you care about their learning; 4) An expectation that the course will be valuable and enjoyable.

Having a daily checklist and a notepad to organize thoughts/needs may be the  most helpful advice to me.
