About me

Sherry Bomberger is the Senior Vice President – Education & Regulatory Affairs of YTI Career Institutes, five schools in Pennsylvania, owned by Liberty Partners, a private equity firm. She has held a number of key leadership roles both in the schools and at the corporate level.  She is responsible for education administration, academic programs, policies and procedures, academic and institutional reports, and compliance with all regulatory agencies and serves as the liaison with licensing and accrediting agencies.

She has been a member of the YTI team since 1987. Sherry serves as a team leader and appeals panel member for ACCSC.   She also serves on the State Board of Private Licensed Schools for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania’s Department of Education and as a Chair for the Pennsylvania Department of Education on team visits for the Associate in Specialized Business and Technology degrees. 

Activity

In developing a strong compliance plan it is important that we understand that compliance = quality control and is not and should not be considered the necessary evil, but rather a support for continual improvement and quest for excellence.  A strong compliance program and plan needs to be reviewed annually and needs to be part of the budgeting process.  Key elements are mandatory compliance training and attestations; internal audits and campus visits; monitoring of telephone inquiries; monitoring of interviews, tours, and financial plans; graduate employment verifications (other than those conducted by school’s career services staff); and a compliance hotline.
