Taking the course on social and motivational engagement online has been incredibly beneficial for me. It has provided me with valuable strategies to foster a sense of community among my students, making them feel more connected and supported. The course also taught me how to motivate my students effectively, encouraging them to participate actively and stay committed to their learning journey. Overall, this course has significantly enhanced my ability to create a dynamic and engaging online learning environment.

Motivating students and faculty members requires fostering an environment where autonomy, purpose, and growth are a focal point.  Empowering people to take ownership of both learning and teaching are lessons that will last a lifetime.

I have utilized this technique when my class lands on a holiday.  Giving the students the material they would learn in class beforehand.  Review the material including the assignments in our next class.  Mixed results, the students that applied themselves did great.  Unfortunately, the less motivated students were put in catch-up mode.  Overall, this presentation gave me some great ideas on how to make this work for the entire class.

Having a purposeful routine each day.  Maintaining daily communication with each student so they stay in the boat.  Helping students learn time management is vital.

Seeing the difference with virtual learning it vital for success in all students no matter their personality.  Evaluating the type of personality each student has will be an excellent guide.

Keeping my students engaged with activities to do during the session will help with their confidence and retention.

Very helpful so far.  Orientation and fortification of this information with new students is directly tied to less questions about the technology and more questions about the subject matter.  My students that have used Canvas in the past get assignments submitted efficiently and on time.  It is my ultimate goal for each new class to make sure each student can work with our CMS within the first week.  Then we can get focused on the course material.
