Adults often utilize their own life experiences when introduced to new knowledge. In a sense, this gives them an advantage or their younger counter-parts in the classroom. It is this type of experience that should be cultivated when teaching adults.
Learning styles vary and should be considered when teachinng (e.g., Gardner's learning types). This should be brought into line with the latest learning taxonomies (e.g., Fink).

Yes, real-life experiences (if germane) are a great way to enhance student-learning.
It was a great course!

I thought it was a great refresher course as well and my doctorate is in adult education. Great module!
I also enjoy learning about new teaching methods as well as theories to be applied into the classroom. The trend today is anragogy over pedagogy (as least in terms of the literature).
It is important to always consider different learning styles and types when teaching adult students. Often, I will gravitate back-and-forth between dicussion, lecture and small group activities based on problem-solving scenarios. In this case, each style is addressed.
