Activity

Leaders need to trust who they work with to delegate their responsibilities. Delegating responsibilities does not mean checking out of a project though. Leaders should still remain involved with the work and know what is going on still.

A great leader scaffolds to help others develop leadership qualities. They set firm boundaries but maintain respect between employees while fostering a positive work environment. They are not afraid to get to work and won't leave their team without support.

Don't be afraid to seek help if you have a problem. Using groups to help will increase the production of alternative ideas and bring energy. Other people will bring in different views and approaches you may have not seen before.

Don't be afraid to try something different or a new approach. Keep an open mind to different methods of achieving outcomes.

When receiving feedback we should be all ears and take it with an open mindset. It is meant to help us perfect what we are doing. It is not a personal attack on what we do. It is an opportunity for improvement and sharpening our skills.

Discussion

As teachers/coaches/trainers we work daily in a high stress environment. It is full of new problems everyday. It is important that we remember to control what we can control and take care of ourselves. If we don't take care of our own peace we will not be help to anyone else.

We each have a standard to uphold. It is important support those we work with and do t right thing for the great good of the goals we all strive to achieve whether it is in the school building or in sports.

Active listeners are open minded and process what is being said to them before speaking out.

Great leaders understand how they communicate is important to how things get done correctly. It is not about being the loudest or who has the most authority. When communicating it is important to know your message, your mean of communication and who you are trying to reach.
