Prof. Bowen's research was very interesting and inspiring.

It would help to know what questions we got wrong on the quizzes instead of just a percentage score.

My biggest takeaway is actually affrimation of my approach to management and leadership which is that you have to be adaptable based on the situation as to what approach you will take. As a parent, for example, you may be affiliative with your children together during an activity, but if your toddler runs off towards the street, you have to be coercive in order to correct that behvior in the moment.

I am definitely both a leader and manager. Especially as an educator, I not only have to set the vision for the course and inspire learning, I also have to manage processes such as grading assignments and interacting with students online.

The best way to phrase my thoughts is with a famous quotation, "If you fail to plan, you plan to fail".

This is why I'm a mixed methodologist as it relates to research because quantitative data only reveals WHO & WHAT is occurring and HOW often. Qualitative data reveals the WHY which, to me is far more interesting and actionable.

Gathering community data is important in the planning stage. However, when offering online courses, the options are more far reaching than just a community. It would be beneficial to explore entire industries in the various disciplines in order to gather intel and establish a network of future employers.

Doing your due diligence in any venture is essential to the overall success of the endeavor. Partnering with the communities and industry professionals can really open the possibilities for graduates which can be a valuable selling point in attracting new students to the organization.

Instead of being the "motherly one" all the time, it's better to let the parties involved work things out when possible. Of course, if there is a threat or potential for violence, alert the appropriate people.

 

I learned several valuable aspects from this module. 

Learning Style: I am primarily a visual learner with equal parts of auditory and kinesthetic as secondary.

Emotional Intelligence: I have high emotional intelligence but need to work on pacing myself and do more of the stopping to smell the roses in life.

I also learned more about Appreciate Inquiry and it's role in leadership situations.

Much of this information was sort of review but put into context if that makes sense. Meaning, I knew a lot of this but didn't necessarily know that I knew it or that "it" even had… >>>
