Activity

I've learned to not assume how people want to be communicated with.

It's important to understand how different generations respond differently to direction and rules.

I've heard of summarizing before, but not reflecting. That part of listening sounds like a game changer and I can apply it by summarizing and then reflecting on student's answers when I'm talking with them about their goals.

I really enjoyed hearing about the listening filters and considering which filters I may be challenged with. Taking a moment to clear those filters before having conversations will be a new activity for me.

I enjoyed the reminder of being unbiased in our questions. We have a cultural community that takes things for granted that may not apply to everyone. I will spend more time considering if the question I ask will be biased or not.

I've learned that you can use questions to help guide a conversation. I can use this by using questions to help a prospective student to determine if our classes are going to be valuable to them.

This was an invaluable module to create a foundation of building relationships with students, from the beginning of their admissions journey. Knowing what their needs are and what objections/barriers they may have, and if the course in question is a good fit are all crucial factors in being able to enroll a student in a course that will benefit them.

This course was excellent in helping me see where our organization is right on track in regard to compliance and also offered information that I can use to improve our advertising, such as online advertising in appropriate channels such as 'education'. I'm grateful to have been able to complete this course and I look forward to learning more in additional courses offered.
