Leanne, Thank you for your thoughts on this Forum. I concur that for the reasons you mentioned, employee retention plays a significant part in productivity and morale. However, I would add that there are some additional areas that impact retention and productivity; a supportive and respectful culture, a good physical environment, recognition programs and frequent and open communications from top management through all levels of an organization. Send them a note of encouragement and remind them of the reason(s) they enriolled in the course, e.g. professional advancement, certification, self-improvement, etc.

Kevin, I agree with your post and would add that establishing a faculty mentoring system that provides peer-to-peer guidance and advice is often better than administrative monitoring and oversight, particularly when it pertains to pedagogical practice. Dr. Roehrich
Kevin, Clearly it depends on the breadth of the online program and number of students enrolled. With a relatively small to medium number of courses and like size enrollment, your post is vaild and recommended. However, when the number of courses and students begin to expand beyond the capabilities of an in-house IT Support Department, then dial-in or chat support is a viable approach to provide timely and uniform customer service.
