As a new instructor I was definitely worried more about the students impression of me and not the things that will never happen. I can honestly say I have never been one of the teachers that were listed in the first portion. I do have a good rapport with my students. Enough that they know where I am coming from and have respect for my insight/opinions.

The cheating happens and that is honestly my biggest issue. I have a great rapport with my students but the content is harder than they are used to and often they are unprepared. I have used online monitoring services and blocking sites to help lower some of my repeat offenders.

I have tried the meeting with the center stage students and it is not always 100% successful. The cards system seems geared at younger students not something I can use with my high schoolers. Some of the other strategies might work.

I feel like I am very clear with my expectations in my syllabus. I do feel that I tend to get lax and the students take advantage of this. The late work stat that 10% will be late is unfortunately higher for me. But it does track that it is not always the same 10% mine is usually 5% the same each time though.

I was surprised by some of the do's and don'ts lists. Like the make sure to have more false questions than true. And that the questions that do an and b options are actually discouraging. I agreed with the if you give them a choice of the 5 questions pick two to answer there are always easier questions that the students will chose.

I like the CAT assessment ideas. I think that the ones that ask them what them what they did good or bad may or may not elicit honest answers. I currently use the internship reflection questions with my students.

This one helped me with tips on how to handle students not responding, and what do do with students that are trying to redirect or get us on tangents.

I learned about the different ways auditory learners process and what is best for them. I think we tend to focus on the written and the visual more than we do with the auditory ones. We just take them for granted.
