I used to want every new student to like me. After my first year of teaching I realized this was impossible. The sooner you accept this fact, the easier you will be on yourselves regarding your teaching talent.

problematic students

i have a problem sometimes with students who work full time. the have conflicting hours with work and school. Any suggestions that have worked for any of you?

WIFM

I was always taught that the first thing a student, especially adult students, wants to know is Whats In It For Me? WIIFM. It's pretty hard to try and be taught something you feel you do not need or will never use. If it's clear how and when a student would use the information possibly on a daily basis then they are usually more open to learning new thing.
