True colors is another way to categorize personality traits---I think, like many others, I am a mix of at least two colors.

Personality trait tests can not only provide you with a better understanding of yourself but can help you understand the personalities of those you work with. It is helpful to understand the perspective of others through the prism of their personality traits. 

Labs can be used in the asynchronous setting and there are many resources available to provide students the needs equipment to practice their lab skills asynchronously. 

Having students take a learning styles assessment can be helpful to them better understanding how their learning preferences and can also help faculty to ensure a variety of learning activities are incorporated into their class. 

Students appreciate the use of a variety of tools (audio, art, video, animation) as they can help students further engage with the content. 

Students need feedback on their quizzes and exams to determine where they went wrong in their thinking in answering the question. 

The idea of a guest speaker in the online setting, either live or recorded, is new to me and a great idea!

The structure of a course and interaction among peers and with the instructor are critical to the effectiveness of a course. 

Rubrics should be provided for discussion posts as they give students very clear expectations for how they can earn their points and most effectively engage in the discussion. 

To assist in facilitating communication in the online environment, instructors should personalize their communication and encourage interactions between peers, through way of introduction. Timely feedback is critical to student engagement and success. Modeling proper grammar and writing is important as well as providing constructive feedback related to a student's writing abilities. Setting clear expectation for engagement is important.
