While I always taylor my instructional methods to the needs and learning styles of my students, a pre-test would be a valuable addition. A simple test given at the start of the course designed to establish the present understanding of the material would accomplish two things. First it would assust in determining the effective delivery of the content, and secondly be a base line for assesment at the end of the course.
