Extrinsic motivators, as mentioned, are often used to keep the audience engaged. However, it seems like a habit hard to remove. Intrinsic motivators are not easy to have. Many students go to night classes, and are tired,  finding strategies to engage them is something important to think about.  

It is important to keep students engaged, minimizing students attrition, counseling and communicating with them, keeping their records, resolving conflicts and dealing with undesirable behaviors.

It is important to keep students engaged and motivated fostering participation either in asynchronous or synchronous discussions as well as delivering feedback in a timely manner.

I learned the importance of projecting a good presence in the class, maintaining authority and establising a relationship with learners.

Each Instructor teach different. It is important to know the course, class rules, assignments, deadlines, extra credit policies. It is also important to have control of the class and Instructor privileges to manage effectively the course. Communication with students and support are important to reduce their frustration.
