Plan B

On any givin day you may need to use your plan B, The student can ask a question that might need your plan B in play. Or the class is more advance in than the last class and need for you to use a plan B.

I feel having a Plan A & B is part of teaching on a daily basis. We are constantly being challenged by students and their abilities, equipment issues and so on. Having that quick response is what instills confidence in us, as their instructors.

Hi June:
Good planning does involve anticipating the unexpected. Even with that said, I believe we'd need plan C and D as well!

Regards, Barry

Totally agree with you, the more prepare the better , you demonstrating as well professionalism and skills to the class.

Hi Lionel:
Yes, and I think this goes along with being prepared. The better we are able to serve our students, the better teachers we'll be. There are so many potential reason or circumstances that could interefere with ur plans, so being ready and providing a seamless transition when these time occur is good planning.

Sometimes change is needed to make it a good day,
you can tell when students are in overload mode and need time to process. Having plan B to break up the monontiny might be just what the doctor ordered!

Hi Kim:
As in most everything in life, breaking thing uop into doable portions usually works best. So it is with classes. Change-ups seem to "break the funk" students sometimes feel. Teachers senitive to this mood are wise to respond with some activity (Plan-B) that's not a wast of time but is fun or different to recapture attention and focus.

In our field (culinary) adapting to quick changes is absolutly a necessity in our busines, so "plan B" is always part of our daily lessons.

Hi Steven:
Great! A "Plan-B" will prove invaluable that one day when nothing is working or going as planned. Good back-up plans will seem like the activity is what the teacher had planned fr all along; seamless.

Regards, Barry

You are right. Planning A to B just doesn't cut it. I swear there are days I go all the way to W to get the point through!

Hi Sarah:
I think a good teacher has the creative naure and innovation to be able to explain the same simple concept 10 or 20 different ways. That's why we're employed, our training, experience, education, and knowledge cannot be acquired from only the books and training aids.

I guess sometimes we just have to work harder to earn our pay.

Regards, Barry

I agree, we must plan for the unforseen and make it a smooth tranisition (not noticable) to students.

Nikkole,
Having a collection of back up plans provide the best preparation for when what was planned cannot occur for whatever reason. Sometimes I'll draw from my backup collection, not because I need to, but because I want to add some variety and a bit of a break from the routine.
