I agree. I have found myself listening to the bell when I was only at the middle of my lesson plan. Sometimes it is worth it because we spend most of the time in a very engaging argument with most of the students participating. Of course, this means that the next day we would have to speed up a bit to catch up. If students are enjoying the class, they will speed up knowing that it is rewarding.

I like to plan a few extra formative assessments that can be given to help inform students and me about what learning has occurred if there is extra time left over.
