Comment on Teresa Clark's post: Yes I agree with this a lot of what was covered in the course I have already started to implement!

As a new instructor, this course has introduced additional tools to supplement what I am already doing with my students. I appreciated the examples given for each of these teaching methods

I gained a few new tools for my tool belt! Among my favorites are: concept maps, catchups, jigsaws, and learning logs.

I enjoyed how this course covered four different strategies for instruction. I think the key is a combination of them to use in your classroom and varying your instruction thought out a unit of study.

I intend to increase the Independent reflection requirements - I realize that I am in great need of more independent short knowledge checks for my students. I plan to implement short pop quizzes on the days after my live demonstrations either in Construction Tech or Manufacturing in order to solidify the content that they learned.  I believe this has been a missing ingredient from my teaching from this year.  I have seen more mistakes from students that have watched my demonstrations and yet do many of the things I specifically warned against.  I see this as the result of not having enough accountability.  Though I like to treat my students like adults, they are also human and will sometimes opt for the easiest method (zoning out).  These short quizzes will be repeatable until the student gets 100%.  Hopefully with this layout there will be fewer safety issues and also fewer mistakes.

I did not realize I was already using several of these methods, and now have a name for them. This course also gave me insight for other activities I can use to help my students grasp broader subjects.

I've picked up a lot of new techniques that I can use in my teaching. In addition to practicing, I will employ visualization as a new technique to help my students hone their abilities.

Im new to teaching like, I just started   This training mod is great, accept that I can only answer a few of the questions, I know I now have great resources to lean on when I do start teaching and I do want to use the visualization technique

I look forward to having options available to try as I begin my teaching career

It is beneficial for the students and I to navigate through the various ways to understand, teach, and learn the material collectively. I understand no one method will work for everyone, but trying a different approach will allow for students to stay curious enough to learn and become confident MAs or with any subject.

I like the ideas of collaborative learning groups (which I already use), journaling, learning logs, Catch Up. My supervisor is encouraging us to do things to help our students become more engaged.

I enjoyed being able to better understand the different teaching methods and reflecting on how to use them in my own classroom.  It will make for a better learning experience for the students if I pay attention to incorporating some of these methods, as well as helping me to better be able to hear feedback from my students.  Variety in learning and teaching is very important!

I had learned effective strategies to use in the classroom

I realize that many different teaching strategies help with my students. Teaching can be hard and it is not easy to always come up with a method that hits all my students. I like all these different strategies and methods that I can take back to my classroom.

I have learned various techniques that can be utilized to assist students with their learning experiences.  There are a variety of ways to make learning engaging, fun, and purposeful.

Getting students to learn implies attending to their different needs and interests, but at the same time leading to the goal of achieving the intended learning outcome of the course. Thus, after having seen how direct and indirect instruction, interactive and independent learning are developed, I find that the combination of these strategies strengthens and enriches the way in which the expected learning is acquired.

This course was very informative.  I did realize all of the strategies stated we already fully or partially implemented by me.  Some wer newly learned and I am anticipated their use and hoping for good results.
