Instructional Style
We are continuously fine tuning our Instructional Style as we grow in the course/subject - the style in one course/subject may not apply as well in another.
I handle every students differently for each of them is unique in they're own ways.
I think it is important to be able to change your instructional style for each class you teach. As an instructor we need to be aware of the students perception and how well they are recieving and understanding the material.
You can be a leader in the class and also be friendly as well. Sometimes breaking down the me and you barriers really helps to draw the students into your instruction. I find this approach works very well. I try to be firm and fair and the students know right from the start what is expected of them and they know what they can expect of me.
I have found that you must tailor your teaching style to each individual group of students. Some groups are more talkative, while other groups require a lot of effort to draw feedback out of them to ensure that they are understanding what you are teaching them. Understanding a little about the personality and interests of your students may assist you in possibly creating an analogy that will be relative to the subject but, also meaningful to the students.

I change Instructional Style to fit the Age of the class. Some classes I have students over 25 years old and are very focused on learning. Other classes the students are around 20 years old and it takes more to keep them engaged in the lesson.
I really like that last line. It took me a while
but it pays off. Once they know what is expected
of them, all the gray areas disappear and you can get on with your class.
i've had pretty good luck over the years being able to connect with people. thats helped me out a lot. Also being friendly to students in the clasroom has never hurt me either.
Being able to change and modify instructional style in the classroom is paramount to being a good instructor. Each class has its own dynamics that need to be adjusted to.
Lucky for me we change students every 3 weeks and this keeps everything fresh as their personalities change and my style changes to accomidate this.
Every student learns in one of the three learning styles: auditory, visual or kinestetics. Whatever style you choose should incorporate these into whatever knowledge you trying to present to your students.
