Hi Lev,
I think it is a good idea. I send my students the syllabus in advance of the course. Since I teach onsite courses I then review the syllabus in class as well. I leave the syllabus posted up so the students can refer to it throughout the course.

I have been using an electronic format with a course managment website for several years. It works great. You don't have to use any paper and it is available for the students 24 x 7. They shouldn't be using the excuse that they don't have the syllabus.

Today's learner is a creature of the electronic world and if we are discussing an online course I would believe learners may also expect dissemination of the syllabus my email or have it posted on a webpage.
Hi Glenn,
That is a fair and accurate expectation. This also allows the students to see and get comfortable with the syllabus prior to the course starting. I have found this helps them to determine what questions they need answered.

I found posting the syllabus and resource materials on the student portal is a great way to involve students in meeting a few of the objectives in the coarse, personal responsibility.
